Our clients lived in London for 20 plus years and returned to the U.S. with a load of beautiful antique furniture, rugs and collections from their global travels. Our project involved transitioning these items from a 3 story Victorian walkup townhome in London to a multi level, contemporary home with water and mountain views in Greenbrae, CA. We were inspired by the beautiful colors of the water and the smoky greens of Mount Tamalpais and created a palette of water colors: blues, grays, mushroom, smoky greens. We were also inspired by the lovely antique Tabriz living room rug and pulled our furniture and drapery fabric colors from the soft blue, mushroom, taupe and green in the rug pattern. We removed a chunky fireplace surround and designed a lovely transitional fireplace and bookcase to showcase stellar contemporary original art from Stephanie Breitbard Fine Arts and beautiful collections of asian ceramics, boxes and sculpture from the owners personal collection.
We added some fun contemporary lighting by Ultralights and installed wireless controlled recessed lighting in the living room, designed by Lockwood Electric.
The upstairs master bedroom was painted in a custom Farrow and Ball paint color used by the client in their London bedroom, and we added custom Fabricut Fabrics valances and bedding created by Trend Drapery in San Rafael, CA.
This was a year long project during which we became very close to the homeowners, and their stellar English Lab, Mr. Riley. It was, as the Brits might say, "A Brilliant Project!"
